Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant 7th Round Results

Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant continues to increase direct contacts and to promote cooperation between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries.

In the seventh round of the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant, we received a total of 95 applications from both countries. We are delighted to announce that in this round, the Hrant Dink Foundation will be offering support in the form of a travel grant to a total of 39 individuals – 28 from Turkey, 11 from Armenia – for their visits to the neighbouring country with specific purpose and programme.

Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant 7th Round Grantees

Ms. Melodi Var Öngel, Mr. Ahmet Şafak Çizmaz, Mr. Umut Akdağ, Mr. Paşa Güven from Istanbul, members of the music band United Harmonies, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan to learn about local instruments, local singers, composers and folk songs.

Ms. Anzhela Sargsyan, Ms. Katarine Galstyan, Ms. Zareh Galstyan, Mr. Hayk Karapetyan, Mr. Stepan Ter-Ghevondyan, Mr. Madlena Galstyan from Yerevan, members of the music band United Harmonies, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, for performing in joint concert with the Turkey members of the United Harmonies.

Ms. Ayşe Zeynep Pamuk from Istanbul, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, to present her paper named “Silence, Trauma and Memory: Female Contemporary Artists from Turkey” at the international conference “After Genocide: Gendered Trauma, Transmission and Reinvention”, organized by Women in War Paris in partnership with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.

Mr. Alen Taşçıoğlu, Mr. Saro Ogsar, Mr. Narod Talar Agoşyan, Mr. Giragos Başak, Mr. Roy Merkezoğlu, Ms. Lidya Satılmış, Mr. Şınork Mesrop Erzurumluoğlu, Mr. Baret Borucuyan, Ms. Semanur Taşköprü, Mr. Ari Barsamyan from Istanbul, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for attending the Technology Camp organized by TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.

Ms. Arpine Aleksanyan and Ms. Sona Baloyan from Yerevan, from “Matenadaran” Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, Turkey for meetings with the Armenian Patriarchate, Armenian high schools, foundations and publishing houses to discuss possibilities of further collaboration on preserving the Armenian culture.

Ms. Ayşenur Korkmaz from Istanbul, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, to take part in the international conference “After Genocide: Gendered Trauma, Transmission and Reinvention”, organised by Women in War Paris in partnership with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography.

Mr. Bahattin Taman, Mr. Osman Akyıl and Mr. İhsan Ay from Diyarbakır, members of the Mesopotamia Foundation, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for exploring possibilities for further cooperation and information/document exchange with Radio Yerevan.

Mr. Cihan Ülsen, Mr. Ekrem Altun and Ms. Roj Esir Girasun from Diyarbakır, Turkey, members of the Dut Ağacı Social Sciences Research and Solidarity Association, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for conducting interviews with the Muslim minority living in Yerevan.

Ms. Eda Bekçi Arı and Ms. Yıldız Deveci Bozkuş from Ankara, from Yıldırım Beyazıt University, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan State University, for their research on Sırpuhi Düssap, the first female Armenian novelist, and for discussing possible exchange programmes for students and faculty staff members.

Mr. Gevorg Petrosyan from Yerevan, President of EUPHRATES research center, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, for making interviews with elder Armenians in Istanbul and visiting institutions for his PHD thesis on the 1945-1965 Cold War period.

Mr. Hasan Yalçın from Diyarbakır, member of the Human Rights Association-Diyarbakir Branch, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for meeting civil society organisations working in the field of human rights including the Kurdish civic initiatives in Armenia.

Mr. Hovsep Khurshudyan from Yerevan, President of Free Citizen Civic Initiatives Support Centre, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Istanbul, for meetings with Armenian community representatives, newspapers and publishing houses.

Ms. Maria Abrahamyan from Yerevan, human rights coordinator at For Equal Rights NGO, will be supported with the travel grant to visit to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University, for meeting and interviewing women’s organisations and university students.

Mr. Umut Vedat from Istanbul, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for finding a gallery that will hold his sole exhibition in Yerevan.

Mr. Veli Acu from Gaziantep, Programme Associate at Human Rights Agenda Association, will be supported with the travel grant to visit Yerevan, for meeting civil society organisations and Institutes working on the Armenian Genocide.

 

In 2016-2017, Hrant Dink Foundation will administer the Turkey-Armenia Travel Grant with the financial assistance of the European Union within the framework of the programme Support to the Armenia-Turkey Normalisation Process – Stage II in collaboration with the Eurasia Partnership Foundation (EPF) and Gyumri ‘’Youth Initiative Centre’’ NGO (YIC) in Armenia.
